What is the difference between indexing and ranking?
When a website is submitted to a search engine, a program called a spider, or bot, reads the content of the site, and, depending on what the spider finds, the site is added to the search engine database. This is known as indexing.
After a site has first been indexed in a search engine, it is common to find that it does not rank very well on it's chosen keywords. This is because when the site is indexed the search engine does not record all of the relevant information needed for the database, usually only recording the URL.
A few weeks after this happens, the spider revisits the site, and completes the in depth analysis of the site, recording the meta tags, title, body text and other components of the site needed in order for the site to be found in the database when a search is performed. This process is called ranking, as the search engine can now relate the site to particular keywords, and so will be able to rank it within search results.

How long will it take until I am one of the top 10?
The adaptation time for your website to be well positioned is 3-6 months, depending of the keywords. Please note that if search engines do not know your page exists, this is the time it will take them to fully index your website. If it is already been indexed, it takes some time for search engines to check and take a note of the changes carried out in their pages.

Why register with more than 100 search engines if only a few of them are of some importance?
Nowadays, the most used search engine is Google, which similarly to others very much used does not pay any special attention to registration request forms, but checks every page in its database, gives them a punctuation and adds any new links with the help of specific programmes (robots or spiders).
That means that the most important search engines will know your webpage through visits to other pages that link back to it. This is why we register you in so many search engines, both national and international
.

How do we register you in search engines?
We always register you manually. There are many programmes and webpages that register you automatically with hundreds or even thousands of search engines in just some minutes, but we do not recommend them for several reasons.

- Most search engines -or at least the most important ones- do not allow automatic registrations and are ready for that, so you need to enter a verification code for every registration. Therefore, if you are lucky, you will not get to be registered because the programme will not run properly. And if you are unlucky, the search engine will detect the registration attempt and will ban your website from its database.

- Every search engine has several classifications. By registering you manually, we can place your website in the appropriate category. Indexing a website under an inappropriate category can mean a penalty from the search engine and never to be able to be indexed.

- Usually, after a registration request, the search engine sends out a confirmation e-mail. By managing registrations manually, we keep control of those search engines we are requesting indexing from and if they reject our application, we can also see what their reasons are.

How can you get a good positioning?
As mentioned above, Google and other important search engines periodically check and punctuate webpages indexed. One of the several punctuation criteria is the links we receive from other websites, thus getting a higher score depending on the importance of the website linking back to us.

Google assigns a PR (Page Rank) to every indexed webpage according to the links it gets, so a website can grant some points to the one it is linking. Depending on the PR it has, it will grant you many or few points. The more back links you get from other pages, the more important your website is.

Besides, there is title, text and web structure optimization.

Can I select criteria in several languages?
In Akrolis we position your website for the language you choose, but all search criteria must be in the same language, as we modify your website so that it is positioned according to the language used. Should you have a multilingual website, we would carry out an independent positioning for every language as if they were different webpages.
Para poder posicionar una página web en un determinado idioma, es imprescindible que disponga de una versión de su página web en ese idioma, dado que los buscadores realizan el posicionamiento según los textos contenidos en el sitio web.

What happens if I quit using your services after I am positioned?
You will progressively lose positions in search engines. This will depend on your search criteria and on your competitors. If your website is well positioned, it may stay in a good position for some time and then go further down month after month. Many clients use our service in alternate months or in specific seasons when they are interested in going up to the top.
